I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I haven't seen it yet and I'm pretty new. Today my computer caught the System Security 2012 virus and shut my libreoffice down. I was able to save it before it did, but when I finally got rid of the virus, I tried opening my document. It brings up 'filter options', then tells me it's "locked by unknown user." I click 'read only" the other option and it's just a bunch of "####". Is there a way to fix this?

EDIT: I figured out how to unlock the file. After finding out how to show hidden files, I was able to delete the ~lock.odt file. However, the "###" still remains. Is there anyway to fix that? Or is that file pretty much done for?

Looks like your file is corrupted beyond repair. Do you have a backup copy somewhere?

Search this forum for corrupted files there have been quite a few recently.

Sadly, nothing to do, it may be the same as that one: 22 page term paper replaced with pound signs.

Check the temporary folder of the system (see in OOo Tools>Options>OOo>Paths). If there are folders like sgmlf.tmp with a file having the same name inside, make a copy of that file, rename it in .odt and cross your fingers.

I checked, there's nothing. And thanks for the link, thats exactly what happened to me. Luckily, it was only a two-page paper instead of a 22-page paper, so I'm not too worried about it (Geeze, loosing a 22 page paper would kill me). It teaches me to start saving, anyway.
