[Solved] Bulk modification of style definitions

Is there a way for me to automate the process of changing a font name across documents and style definitions where there are too many such to do so individually?

PROBLEM: Any template or document which contains a style using the font "ITC Galliard" will not display correctly when moving from OO 2.4 (under X11) to OO 3.3 (w/o X11)

NOTE: The initial source of the problem appears to lie in X11, but even if that problem is solved, I need a solution to the secondary problem, which lies entirely within OpenOffice. (Either that, or I would need to run OO 3.3 under a "broken" version of X11. Is that possible?)

To reproduce the problem:
1) Create a text document in OO 2.4 running under X11
2) Add some text using the "Galliard" font
3) Save the document and exit OO.
4) Open the document in OO 3.3 (no X11). The text will not display in the expected font.
5) Select the text.
6) Format->Character. At the bottom of the dialog will be a message about the font not being installed.
7) Change the font to "ITC Galliard." The text will display as expected.
8) Save the modified text (now "ITC Galliard") and reopen the file in OO 2.4. Again, the text will not display in the expected font.
9) Repeat steps 5 and 6. You'll get the same message.

As I say, the fundamental problem seems to lie in X11, but fixing that doesn't help me. I still need to modify all of my documents and templates (or else continue to operate under an unrepaired X11 if there's an appropriate OO 3.3, which I haven't found).

Preferences - OpenOfice.org - Fonts, tick Apply replacement table, do the obvious
help you?

If I remember correctly, if the font style is used in most/all paragraph styles, then changing it in Default paragraph style will change it in the child styles.

Correct, but you'd still have to make that change in every file you open if they aren't based on the same template. And if you swap between versions of OOo, you'd still have to change fonts every time.
