Topics in Help do not Display

Hi -- I'm just learning to use Writer, having used MS Word previously at a novice level.

When I open the Writer Help menu from within the application, I can see the index and search for topics, but when I highlight a topic (e.g. tabs) and hit the "Display" button, only a small blank box appears, no text. Any idea what the problem is? I've downloaded the 400+ page Writer manual, but it would be easier to be able to use the online Help.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

See Text invisible in Help panel, especially the postings at the end about clearing the font cache. If that fixes the problem, in addition to marking this as [Solved] it will help others if you indicate which method you used to clear the font cache on your Mac.

If this answered your question please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the title. You can select the green checkmark icon at the same time.

Thanks, Mr. Programmer. Unfortunately, clearing the font cache did not seem to do the trick for me. I first tried a safe boot; when that didn't work, I downloaded Onyx and cleared the font cache with that. I restarted after both tries. However, I still can't display the help topics in Open Office.

Oh, and it *does* appear to be the same problem described in the other topic e.g. I can see the text if I cut and paste it into TextEdit. Weird :-)
