[Solved] Veeeeery slow download

Post by AndyofKent »

I'm trying to download OOo 2.4 (for Windows), and OpenOffice.org is directing me to a location in Japan which won't speak to me any faster than 14 kb/sec - hence the download is set to take about 2½ hours.

Is there anywhere faster to download from, or any way to tell OpenOffice.org to look a bit nearer than Japan? (I'm in the UK)

(I can't use a torrent; my boss says they are "illegal" and won't hear of torrent software going on his computers.)

When the dialog ask you where to save the file, cancel, the page will then offer the possibility to select a mirror. Here is the direct link: select a mirror close to you (bottom of the page mentioned above).

Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.

Thanks, that worked perfectly - there's a mirror within 30 miles of me, and it's rather a lot quicker!
