I GIVE UP, No printing at all
I GIVE UP, No printing at all
I tried but if i make a text document using this program and i hit print, it should automatically print the page. I shouldn't have to export this or that. I should BE ABLE to hit print and get text , INK ON PAPER. Needless to say it sees what kind of printer I have but every time i print, it spits out a blank page making this program USELESS TO ME. i still can't get print out. I don't understand how you can make a beautiful program like this and yet the final output is nil. Thank god for copy and paste. I have to go back to microsoft word because nothing i do works here with windows Xp and the latest version 2.4. I think a fix is needed.

i would really fix the problem now that you heard me have my little tantrum
By the way, I am glad you think it is so humorous, perhaps you can tell me and others why it recognizes my printer but spits out blank pages every time and changing any of the options has no results.

Re: I GIVE UP, No printing at all
We have seen some issues related to old printer driver.
Please read the Survival Guide for the forum and give us as many details as possible.
NB: since you're willing to fix your issue, I move your thread in the Setup and Troubleshouting forum.

Re: I GIVE UP, No printing at all
Sorry, I really wasn't laughing at your situation, believe me. I have dents in my furniture caused by OpenOffice; I know it's not funny--at least not at the time
I was only laughing at the idea that some developer forgot or neglected to make sure that OOo could print.
Obviously, OOo--including 2.4--can print correctly, but there's something about your situation that triggers a problem. Unfortunately, it's usually very difficult to find out what causes the specific failure, so the root problem doesn't get fixed, but we should be able to get you printing.
First, how did you install OOo? Is this your first installation, or was this an upgrade from a previous version?
Second, do any of the OOo applications print anything? Try printing a spreadsheet (can be empty, there are default headers/footers that should print).
Third, if you type some text and then export to PDF (there's a little PDF icon on the toolbar), does it appear correctly in your PDF reader? If it does, then that's a potential emergency workaround for printing, until we get the normal route working.
Fourth, as Hagar reminded me, there have been problems like this that were fixed by simply updating or re-installing the particular printer driver. If you know how to try that, give it a shot. If you don't know, just ask.

Nothing gets printed from a completely blank document, simply enter anything into any cell.Second, do any of the OOo applications print anything? Try printing a spreadsheet (can be empty, there are default headers/footers that should print).
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.
