When sending an a word document in an attachment to someone, why does the font and layout change when they view the document. The document has a different layout when someone opens the attachment. Is there something I am doing wrong? Any suggestions? I have a new Mac OS X Version 10.6.7.

Hi,
If they have not, (and not necessary to edit the sent document) you can send .pdf format with embedded fonts.
...And the binary .doc format is not an opensource document type, the OOo developers developed the exporting routines by "reverse engineering" (In simple words: they guessed and tried what and how contain a doc file the format informations.)
The native formats of OOo basen on International standard:
ODF (ISO 26300:2006)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDocument
Use the native document formats!
Have the recipients same fonts wich are you using? (The fonts not embedded the documents.)why does the font and layout change
If the recipients have Open/LibreOffice, the beset choice: use the native fileformat (.odt).When sending an a word document

The max. number of lines per page depends on capability of assigned printer. The document has a different layout when someone opens the attachment

Thanks. I have sent documents to my computer at work and when I open them the font and layout changes. We use Microsoft at work. Just concerned that when I send a resume to someone that the font and layout will change which will cause obvious problems.

If you want to send a read-only copy of your resume, in a fixed format, Export as PDF. If you must send a .doc format (why should they require an _editable_ format - complain to your state's data Protection Commissioner concerning possible breach of your personal security), use Times New Roman, as that is as near a standard font as there is.shawnmoore05 wrote:Thanks. A resume is not supposed to be edited by the receipient, right? So you should send your resume as PDF which is the only format designed to look the same irrespective of the creating software nor target system.
