[Solved] Accented e instead of apostrophes

When typing in openoffice writer, whenever I attempt to type an apostrophe an accented e appears instead. Also, whenever I attempt to type a question mark, a backslash or a square bracket I recieve some sort of accented letter instead. This change occurred, literally, as I was working mid-document; I was typing with apostrophes and quotations fine throughout the document, then suddenly accented e`s began appearing in their place. This only occurs in Open office; I checked my keyboard settings in Windows control panel, and it is not set to an International keyboard setting. Any information on how to revert Openoffice so that it recognizes apostrophes, quotations and question marks would be much appreciated. Thanks.
