[Solved] All Files Locked For Editing

I recently had to reformat my computer and reinstall open office due to a bad patch from AVG causing 64bit systems to go into an infinate reboot loop. I recovered all my files off of carbonite, but all my open office docs are now are "locked for editing" and I can only open a copy. I can edit the copies, but if I say delete the old doc, and replace it with the copy and use the same name, that becomes locked as well. Any idea how to deal with this?

A Carbonite forum might be more appropriate for this question. I'd check the file permissions on the recovered files/folders.

It just seems to be an issue with OO stuff, which is why I thought I'd ask here.

Look for files named .~lock.filename and delete them if found.

Found my answer there, I didn't think it would be related. Thanks!

To help the next user who has this problem, what was the answer?

It ended up being a set of hidden lock.filename files, which were in the same folder I needed to get into to try resetting my user profile, which was mentioned in conjunction with Carbonite issues...the profile wasnt the source, but getting there got to the actual issue.

So basically, make your sure file browser is enabled to view hidden files, then search for anything fitting format lock.filename, and delete those files.
