Can't use forms

I have just completed a custom installation of just the openoffice base program. I have created a blank database but when i go to the forms panel the options to create a form are 'greyed out'. Can anyone help me create a form??

** I do not actually have any data in my database yet.

Creating forms requires Writer it seems. That's the problem with installing only one component. A suite is a whole package, better install it completely. Morevover, the components by themselves are less than 10MB each, so you don't gain much HD space by removing unwanted apps.
