We have just upgraded to version 2.3.1.
All our users are set with the same options. Every so ofter users report that the options/settings have changed back to what looks like standard install settings/options. They are changed back and then a short time later they report they have changed again. This has only been noticed since our change to version 2.3.1.
Area's effected:
Paths - Changes to 'My Documents' from it's previous setting.
General settings > The help agent is activated.
Load/Save general settings - Edit document properties is disabled when it should be enabled.
Any idea's?
Thanks
Kris
OpenOffice 2.3.1 Options
Re: OpenOffice 2.3.1 Options
The user options storage definitely seems to have a gremlin problem. A frequent pattern for questions is: "My OOo no longer does X, how can I fix it?" And the answer is "Set option Y", where option Y is some obscure setting that a new person would never find, much less change and then forget what they did. Apparently, OOo changed option Y all on it's own. The fact that it's repeated for certain options only makes me more sure that there are bugs in there.
However, because this is all totally un-reproducible, it's not even worth reporting. The developers just don't have time to chase gremlins.
So unless you can come up with a recipe of steps for reproducing the problem, every time, from a fresh OOo install, I think we're stuck with swatting at the gremlins.
One thing I have noticed: some setting changes don't "stick" until OOo exits completely. That means exiting the quickstarter as well.
