Custom templates location

Post by franklekens »

In Extra>Options I've specified a specific folder in \My Documents\ as my templates folder.

However, if I go to file>new>templates and documents, Open Office insists on displaying only the templates available in the default location, i.e.
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\template

Why? What's the use of this? Is this a bug and if not, what do I do to change the location properly?

Well, it seems this thread should provide a solution:
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... 29&t=18683

I'll try that.

But what a ridiculously involved way to organize this. What's the use of having this 'paths' option in the extra>options if it doesn't take immediate effect? Weird.

Well, that doesn't work. At least, I did all that, chose "update", exited office and restarted.
It said it couldn't find default.ott at the default applications data folder location -- instead of the location *I* had specified for the templates.
