Using Open Office Portable 221 on WinXP Pro SP2.
Q1....
Other than 50MB difference, what are the MAJOR operational differences between portable app and standard app?
Q2....
Open Office 230 (full version) does not allow to install to a different drive. It automatically installs to C:\Program Files\.....
Is there a way to change this at installation time? I would like to install to another partition on HD. I have installed and then edited the registry to change relevant OO230 path files. But, it doesn't "stick". And I remembered I didn't go through file types and change path files for auto opening of .xls and .doc files. So, I uninstalled and am seeking help here before going through all of those cumbersome tasks
Thanks for help and replies in advance.

Re: Portable vs Standard Version
1. I know of no list. Why not start one? All you need to do is look at the functions of particular interest to yourself.
2. Sure it does: Destination folder, check the "Browse" to list opportunities on your system, or type it in. Let's hope this screen capture shows up.

Re: Portable vs Standard Version
Thnaks for the reply.
I uninstalled OO230 and restarted the installation program and found the "Custom" option on the third or fourth screen. I don't know why I didn't see it the first time. Blind or in a hurry, I guess.
BTW - The screen you have shown is for unpacking the files and not the installation afterwards. Thanks anyway.
I will have to compare the two versions and see whats missing or stripped down. The portable version was "installing" to my USB stick for over 30 minutes and I stopped it. Extracted the files to my desktop and just moved the folder to the stick afterwards. < 2 minutes. I don't know why it was taking so long to "install" to my stick.
