Address Labels

Why do address labels have to be so complicated? Word Perfect (which I don't use anymore) makes it really simple. I enjoy using OO except for that feature. ;)

I would suggest reading the Survival Guide to the Forum

Do you want help, or are you just complaining?

I don't deny that address labels may be easier in WordPerfect, but IIRC it was not that easy to learn when I first used Mail Merge.

Learning new ways of working usually takes a bit of time and patience.

The worst thing about labels is the OOo help file. Simple labels are actually quite easy.

Tell us exactly how you set them up.

It seems to me that the one flaw in OOo's labels, and which I would like to see "addressed" in the future is that they are all independent text frames. That's no issue if you want to put something different in every frame, but if you want to put the same thing in every label, it is a problem because you can't just select, for example, a row of labels and paste the same thing successively down the page. In fact any situation where you want to flow text is a problem.

Why would you want a whole page of the same thing or to flow text in labels? If, for example, you wanted to do a page of return address lables, or fill up a whole sheet by repeating some of the labels.

This can be gotten around in OOo by linking all of the labels successively, but of course this can be a pretty time consuming process if you are dealing with a sheet with very many labels.

I'm confused. When I use the Label wizard there is an option to synch all labels to the changes I make in the first label.

How are you creating labels?
