Creation date field issue

I have a document ported over from MS word.

I use the previous document each time to create a new document, I do this by opening the previous document and then 'save as'.

I have a creation date field - this is indicating the creation date of the original document, not the date the new document was created when I did 'save as'.

MS Word updated this date each time I do a 'save as' which is what I require.

I have found a work-around, FILE / PROPERTIES / RESET

This is a bit long- winded for each document, and I have to remember to do it.

Any other solution?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Better use a template (in native ODF, that is .ott) and insert that same field. For templates, OOo populates the date when you create a file from this template, it won't keep the template creation date.

I have the same issue. When doing "Save As" I would like the new creation date to be set to now. -OR- I think there should be a seperate function somewhere to mark the creation date as now. I don't always want to start from a template.

If you / Insert / Fields / ~Other and select Tab Document type Datec, you are offered two choices - Date and Date(fixed). Date is Now and is updated on file open, Date(fixed) is Now and does not change.
