Hi all,
I have open office 3.2 and am getting on with it very well. But I was wondering if anyone had an equal to list for open office to Microsoft office? For example Word - Writer.
Thanks for any help

What do you mean? The equivalent of MS Word is OOo Writer, for MS Excel, it's OOo Calc and for MS PowerPoint, it's OOo Impress.

That is exactly what I was trying to say. Is there an equivalent to publisher??

No equivalent to Publisher. Many OOo users use Scribus, but for relatively simple outputs OpenOffice itself frequently suffices. If you wish to do professional publishing standard, then you need to look further, perhaps either to one of the Latex versions or to Adobe Indesign or some other commercial package.

Also there is OOo Base equaling MS Access.
For other open source software (also non-OOo programms) and their commercial counterparts see

I think Hagar de l'Est intentionally did not mention Base because it is too far from being "equivalent" with anything else.

Thanks guys. And the OOo Base has all that I need it for so all is well.

Excel - Calc. I just started using Calc and it functions a lot like Excel. The interface looks a little different. In, that it is laid out differently. I used to use Calc. Now I'm familiarizing myself with it and comparing it to Excel. Calc, as with other OpenOffice components, is easy to use.
