Text does not show in slides

Post by JoeDesertrat »

I'm trying to work on slides for a presentation that I created with a previous version of Open Office (1.1.5 I think). The text in the text boxes does not show in the Normal tab unless you click on the text box. The text boxes themselves do no show either. How do I get this to show so I can work on this? This is basic to slide creation and it doesn't work in an obvious manner? It does show in the slide view to the left. I tried 2.1 earlier and I believe I had the same problem and I went back to the older version because of this.

Have you read the Forum Survival Guide?

What OS and OOo version are you working with?

Needless to say, I don't see that problem. As you say, those are basic operations and OOo would not be released with such basic functions broken.

However, something in the architecture of OOo makes it easily possible to break basic functions without breaking the whole thing. OOo will appear to be ok, but major things just don't work. I suspect that has happened to you.

I would suggest that you a) remove (uninstall and/or search for and delete program files) and then b) install (or re-install) the latest version from http://www.openoffice.org.

If you want, attach the older file that you're having trouble with here (or use a file sharing site like mediafire.com if it's bigger than 128k). We can test it and at least tell you whether it works or not. For my part, I've never had a problem reading older OOo files.
