How do I launch an add-in extension?
I have never used any third-party add-in extension in any ooo product, so I am running blind.
I have a Calc spreadsheet with thousands of lines indexed by date. This was imported from a text .csv file, so all the date entries are text entries. I need to convert these text fields to .ods date fields. I just downloaded the ConvertTextToNumber extension to do this. I used Tools->Extension Manager to install this extension in Calc. I clicked every icon in Calc, and ConvertTextToNumber is no where to be found, nor is any reference to any of the other installed extensions except in Tools->Extension Manager.
Does anyone know how to launch ConvertTextToNumber (or any other ooo extension program) to do work? Google searches provided no references on the web including ooo describing the initial launch process, the first step that must be taken to start things up. Trial and error so far has not worked.
Thanks in advance,
Keith

The extension should appear in the top left corner of your primary tool bar. Its has a small "2" in the icon. Click it to run. I experimented with it and didn't find it terribly useful. YMMV

Re: How does one launch an add-in extension?
Hi Tom:
Thanks for getting back. I could not find an icon with a 2. I even opened other toolbars looking for it. I took a screen-snap of my header with the toolbars and attached it. You will probably see it immediately. Whether or not it is useful is another issue. If it is not useful, at least I will have learned to use add-in extensions. That step-up will be very useful in the future.
Thanks,
Keith.

SUCCESS !!!!
Thanks a million. I went back to Extension Manager, and there was a little note that I missed. I had to close and restart everything. This time the tool bar with a 2 appeared.
Again thanks,
Keith.
