Hi and welcome to the forum!
Please read the Survival Guide for the forum.
-> Don't post in a topic that is not related to your own issue (I've split your post)
-> Please run a search first, see that query with '1714'.
Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

Try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301. Download, install and run it. Point it at the OOo install in the list it generates.

Same issue . . read the Survival Guide . . got the fix for 1714 error and it did not work for me. I'm going from 3.1 to 3.2; had no problem updating from any other version in the past. Will follow the forum for updates to see if this issues has been resolved but for now I think there is a bit more to it and am open to suggestions.
