How to overlay charts?

Post by blahblahblah12345 »

I'm trying to create an XY scatterplot chart using one set of data, and then overlay that with another set of data on the same chart. In other words, there might be two different lines corresponding to two different data sets on a single line graph. In excel, I'm pretty sure you can just highlight the data and select to add the data to the chart, but I don't see how to do that in OpenOffice, and currently I only have access to OpenOffice. So if anybody could help me with how to do this, that would be fantastic. Thank you!

One way to do this:
1. Double click on the chart to get it in edit mode.
2. Right click and select Data Ranges
3. Click on the Data Series tab.
4. Click on Add, which is at the lower left.
5. The Data Ranges box will now show blanks for Name, X-Values and Y-Values. Click on X-Values and either fill in the area labeled Range For X-values or click the button just to the right of that and use the mouse to select the x-value range.
6. Repeat #5 for the Y-Values
7. Click OK and the new data series will be added to the graph.
