For the adventurous testers :

Most up to date builds for PowerPC are there (Intel and PowerPC) : http://oooaqua.laurentbuisson.fr/

Be carefull: they are hacked developer builds, only using code from OpenOffice.org cvs, but including last cws (not everything has been integrated in milestone).

e.g. :

- aquafilepicker02 ( Cocoa Filepicker )
- all last bugfixes from aquavcl05, including the new start center
- native print dialog box

..etc


If you are not used to solve issues on your Mac, please do not use them.

For the other, we need feedback for the printing system, thus please do a maximum of tests, and tell us what is really wrong and fully repeatable. But do not create issues if something goes wrong : you use these builds at your own risks.

There's also these: MacOSX builds of 2.4.0 release candidate 2 for Intel and PowerPPC in both Aqua and X11.

I looked through several OpenOffice.org Mac pages today including this one, and they seem several months out of date.

FYI, we discussed the point during the Mac OS port IRC meeting. Not the last one, but the previous before.

Mac OS X port developers (including me) agreed, once aquavcl05, aquafilepicker02, and nativeprintdlg01, aqua version could be released ( means QAed ) .


Well ... maybe dev300_m2 or dev300_m3.

but for sure 2.4 won't be released, and QA them does not make sense, because the most important bugfixes are in aquavcl05. e.g. fixes for the automated testtools

Well, I know there are no final Aqua releases, but surely there are some experimental Aqua releases

I think you are confused.

I'm talking about development, and Maho Nakata has not to decide about Mac OS X port development.

As discussed with Andre Schnabel, the workflow is the following :

1) Mac port (developers, including me) decide whether the development is enough advanced. Means " we think we are ready for release"

-> this is discussed during Mac OS X port IRC meetings.

Recently, Philipp Lohmann, Stephan Schaefer and myself + some other devs, decided it was the case.

And as I already explained, we think, starting m300_m2, Aqua version can be QA'ed.

... now QA starts, not before.


2) then QA is organized by QA Team.

-> Maho Nakata role starts there.

Means: QA Team does verify nothing is wrong, following rules.


3) NLC do the final QA, and can decide a locale is refused or not for every locale.

Thank you. I think I understand everything except why Maho Nakata suggested to QA the PPC/Intel Aqua/X11 2.4.0rc2 releases. Perhaps his language was just imprecise: he may have meant to QA just the X11 binary.

Also, you may be using "QA" more formally than I am. For the article, I am not sure how many people would be motivated to go through a formal QA process, so I suggest starting simply by trying the features they normally use. Some people may just want to play with it like a toy.

Congratulations! I have followed OpenOffice.org since before version 1, and I know this is a big milestone for the Mac.

In fact, the idea was: ask a lot, to be sure to obtain a minimum
(difficult to translate, maybe a French wording )

Last, I sincerily think simple user can play with current experimental builds. Just not use them daily.
