Create individual shortcuts for each component

Post by silenozzy »

I'm using OpenOffice 3.1 on my Mac and I'd like to know how to create desktop shortcuts for each one of it's applications.

I created one for testing purposes, pointing to "/Applications/OpenOffice.org.app/Contents/MacOS/swriter", wich is working, but when I click it, a Terminal window is shown, displaying the following:

Code: Select all

Last login: Wed Jan 27 20:16:33 on ttys000
MacBook:~ silenozzy$ /Applications/OpenOffice.org.app/Contents/MacOS/swriter ; exit;
Also, it's not possible to add it to Dock.
So, is there any way to create an icon for each one of the OpenOffice applications, without the anoying Terminal window and able to be added to Dock?

Thanks!

i created empty xlsx and docx files, locked them for accidental editing, changed their icons and dragged.dropped them into far right of the dock (bottom menu bar). thiis sorted it for me.

potentially you can create alias (shortcut) to openoffice app and add the path to these empty and locked documents which should make you able to move it anywhere in the dock rather than keep them in the right edge of it.

The application is OpenOffice. Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, etc. are tightly integrated components inside this single application. On MacOS, there aren't separate applications for Writer, Calc, ….
What is the point in opening an application without any data to process?
