This is my first post. I'll try to include as much information as I can about the problem. I'm currently using Debain 4.0r2 and the OpenOffice that came bundled with it. The files I'm having trouble with are .rtf format and were created with texteditor on a Mac running OS 10.4.11.
The entire document is double spaced, but for some reason OO is single spacing only the last paragraph. This behavior repeats when opening other .rtf files that were created in the same manner.

Ir sounds as thought the last paragraph carries some formatting the rest of the document doesn't use. It could be that direct formatting was used to change the spacing of the original. In the grand scheme of things, dealing with one rogue paragraph in a document that didn't originate in OOo isn't bad at all. There's really nothing you can do to change the format of that last paragraph until you have the document open in Writer.
I'm not sure what you're asking us to help with. Are you thinking there must be some way to prevent that last paragraph from behaving that way before you open the document? Of course, there isn't. Do you just need help fixing the style? That's a very basic feature in OOo that you should take some time to understand. Use the Styles and Formatting window (F11 opens it) and the Writer Guide to understand about working with paragraph styles. Is that what you needed?
