Thanks for replying to my question.

I have the newest version of Writer that I downloaded today.

I am using the Windows/XP version on a Compaq laptop.

The problem I am having is when I try to send my resume, the person receiving it can't open it due to it not being set up in a doc format.

If possible, i would like to convert my resume which is in an word org format into a word doc format.

How can I do this?

In the File menu, choose Save as...
In the dialog that pops up, you'll see two drop-down lists at the bottom of the dialog. One is the file name and the other is Save as Type --- drop open that list and choose Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc). Before you click Save, make sure the file is being saved to a location where you can find it again (look at the Save in: box at the top of the dialog, which tells you the current folder whose contents are displayed in the file list area.

Or, even easier, just use File > Send > Email as MS Word.

Better solution, possibly, export as a PDF. This avoids any conversion problems for the recipient.

I would second this. You have no idea what platform the recipient may be using so this would be the best way for them to read it as you intend It's much more professional looking too.

Just click on the PDF icon in OOo and it'll export it where you want.

Unfortunately the business world has not caught on that .doc is not a universal format, and require resumes to be .doc files. It's backward and nearsighted at the same time (says a lot for their hindsight, eh!) but that's the way it is.

But seriously, all kidding aside, many of them add to the resume after they receive it, so they need an editable document format.
