Hi,

I have an issue and don't know what to do.

I am working on a file with 18 sheets and I have many rows grouped. It was an xls file and I Imported in into Calc and was workind in osd.

Suddenly every grouped row changed into a hidden row.

I changed it manually but the problem occured again after few minutes. Then I repreated manually but with the same result.

I also tried doing it in osd and xls formats.

Any ideas what's happening?

Would be grateful for help.

Cheers

Stefan

Hi,

Thanks for the info, but this option has been turned on from the beggining.

When I opened the document the groups were there but suddenly they just dissapeared.

May be one of the rare cases where nothing but Excel works.

I have the exact same issue as described in the OP, and have tried toggling the Tools-Options-View-Outline Symbols to no avail. Working with financial statements really begs for this feature to be fully operational. I would love to know if anyone has a workaround, or if this is fixed in a beta version. I am so used to Calc that I really don't want to have to use Excel (have Office 2003) just to overcome this issue.

Come to think of it, of perhaps some relevance is that I opt to save in xls format, as I need to share with the MS-only. Will now try saving/opening in native format and will report back if that seems to fix the apparent bug.

There is no replacement for Excel and there will never be any. It is extremely unlikely that a single OOo developer will read your complaints. The one and only way to change things for the better is outlined here: [Tutorial] Reporting bugs or suggestions. A clear description with a simple attachment demonstrating the issue helps a lot to make the developers more responsive.

I hardly see any differences between XL2003 and Calc. If I had it installed I would use it for all Excel files created by others.

Thank you for your help.

I have already tried working in xls format - it doesn't work :(

I'll try to copy the the data to a new document (manually - not whole sheets). Then I'll write about the outcome.

Thanks.

Stefan

Can you upload a sample file with the issue?
Delete/replace all confidential data. Use the tab upload attachment in Left-down in Post a Reply.

I will do it in the evening.

Here's the file.

Hope you'll find something :)

I don't see any hidden ranges within the used ranges, no groups, no outlines, just the usual Excel madness calculating with text values.
Edit: Correction: I had the view outline option turned off. :? Now my Calc shows the outline in 'Holt's Model' too.

There are no groups because they had disappeared.

There are no hidden ranges because I had to delete the data.

If it matters I will group them manually again and leave it as is and then upload it...

But I thought that the matter is in the file (sorry, Im no programmer...).

PS

Here it is.

Have tried some modifications and worked with the group in "Holt's model" sheet expanded and collapsed. Can't see any other grouped or hidden ranges, but I tried to make some groups of my own. Calc behaves like expected all the time.

There have been some reports of other kinds of "misbehaving" on Windows 7. I don't think that the cause lies there, but it might. Does this change happen when you use some OS tool (symbol table, clipboard, alternate input methods), or can it be connected to other specific actions/events?

Well, in fact I don't think so...

The first time I was just working around the file and suddenly the issue happened.

The second time - after I created the groups once more - it happened againg maybe after 5-10 minutes of simple work...

PS.

some details:

When I work I have my communicator (gadu-gadu) and music (best player) on. Plus Firefox ocassionally, but the issue happens during work with Calc.
