[Solved] Editing the soffice schell script

Post by chudder »

Hi,

I've used OpenOffice for a while from the distribution packages but now I installed the softward directly from Sun. This seems to be a common problem that is even in the readme. OO starts and then crashes. I need to add the line unset SESSION_MANAGER but I don't know how to do that. The script is read-only, I don't know how to bypass this, I can save it as a new file but that defeats the purpose.

Thanks

Chudder

When I installed Sun OpenOffice on Ubuntu 9.10 (two machines), in each case the first startup crashed. I had to manually remove the default User Profile
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... 74&t=12426 and let it recreate a new one. All then worked perfect;y and continues to work.

I am at a loss to explain why the first startup crashed, but the above fix worked for me, in two cases.
