[Solved] Can't install French dictionary

Post by Fr_Deadmen »

Hello all

First, I have to say that I am french (I can't find the french speaking forum), so maybe am I going to make mistakes in english. Please excuse me for this.
I've just installed Microsoft Windows XP Professional on my desktop computer, a Toshiba Satellite A200 named Wilson (^^), and then I installed OpenOffice.org 2.3.1. I tried to install th french dictinaries through the file DicOOo, but at opening, this file says to me (I translate) :
This document contains macros (Im not sure, but that's maybe what you call "templates")
Executing these macros is disactivated because of the macros security settings. Consequently, certain fonctions can be unavailable.
Can you help me ? Thanks.

Go to Tools>Options>OpenOffice.org>Security>MacroSecurity> Change to medium level, this will ask you to allow running macros. Quit from OOo and Quickstarter, restart OOo. open DicOOo allow macros.

You are not stupid, but under informed, dev team changed security settings higher in 2.3 version of OOo, to became more secure when installs. Not allow to run macros its basic security feature.
Not to much direct information about it, or people not aware about it, when installs,

I too want to install a French dictionary. I followed your advice and moved the macro control to medium and closed writer. I restarted but couldn't find the file DIC00o. Where is it and where can I get a french dictionary?
Many thanks,

Has the wizard downloaded the files?
Do you see the V tickmarck before the French entry in languages drop-down lists?

Many thanks Hager,
I started again and it seems to work OK. One should not try to do complicated things late at night when tired!!
