Removing a hyperlink and context sensitive menus.

Post by FeraTechInc »

Are context sensitive menus something that has not yet been refined in OpenOffice? I could not for the life of my figure out how to remove a hyperlink from content I pasted and copied.

I then realized the the right-click menu really didn't appear to notice a difference between regular text or hyperlinked text. Is this something planned on in the future or did I completely miss an easy to use operation.

No, working with links in OOo is not very intuitive. You remove the link from a piece of text by removing the text's formatting. Yes, that makes no sense, and it may remove other formatting already applied to the text, but that's how it works. Select the part of the text that has the link and do Format > Default (or Ctrl+Shift+Space).

At least I don't know of any other way to remove a link. Maybe someone else does.

If OpenOffice is trying to market itself to the mainstream audience why is it that small things like this have not been ironed out.

Regular users will not know to intuitively remove formatting just to get rid of a link.

This seems like such an easy fix as well that it is simply absurd.
