I need to convert a file from word to pdf/A-1. I am following all the instruction but the result says invalid PDF.
The document exceeds the limit for the PDF 1.4.

Could anyone help me with this matter.

Help us to help you: Which OOo version and operating system are you using? Where from did you get your OOo version? Which instructions did you follow and what did you do exactly?

What does this part mean: "the result says invalid PDF". The result of an PDF export is a PDF file. And PDF files cannot say anything. It's always one or several applications that write you messages. And which application is it in your case?

Your signature doesn't say what Windows version you're using, you should update it (see How to update your software information signature).

Have you tried with the File>Export as PDF options? There is an entry for PDF/A-1a, it should do the trick. Else, can you have more information about the problem?

One simple solution is to use one of many free pdf printer utilities. They work/behave like a normal printer except it outputs as a .pdf file instead of printed paper copies.

Some example of these pdf printer drivers:

1. Bullzip PDF Printer
2. RonyaSoft PDF Printer

There are other applications like PDFCreator but I'm not sure all these virtual printers support the PDF/A-1 flavor which is a special one dedicated to long term archiving.
