[Solved] Combine different text files

I have approximately 35 *.odt files (documents) that I wish to combine (merge) into one file. All files are pure text (no images, tables, etc.). Most files are one page long, some are two pages long. The text contained in each file is different. Formatting is insignificant.

I have reviewed the help files in OOo and searched this forum. Both sources briefly discuss merging different versions of the same document (edited versions). That does not apply in my case since the content of each document is entirely different.

The end product I am looking for is one 40+ page document. Other than opening each file and manually doing a cut and paste job, is there a simple way of combining all these files into one using OOo? I believe I can do this using a text editor if I save all the files into .txt format; however, I would like to know if Writer can handle this and if it can, use it.

All feedback will be appreciated...

You can't open a group of files at once in Writer. But, in the time it took to write your post and then check back here, you could have done 32 files in a few minutes. Here is two ways:

Go to the bottom of the current last page, and insert the new file..... repeat

Open one instance of Writer with the first file,
and then open each new file in a new instance, and copy the second to the first, close the page ....repeat this line

either way takes less than ten minutes. Good luck.

Oh, yes, there are other methods including drag and drop .....

Thank you, Bhikkhu and Wandering.

I found Bhikkhu's method the easiest and fastest.
