swf hangs

Post by jglueck »

When I load a previous MS PowerPoint with 51 static slides and then export to swf, the application hangs about 1/2 way through. The 'saved' file is not identified as a Flash file format and will not run as such. We do have Flash installed and working.

I also saved off the PowerPoint file to both sxi & odp formats, swf hung in both cases.

Thanks,

jglueck,

There must be something that Impress does not like on one (or several) of the slides. I would proceed with trial and error, by opening the original file with Impress, deleting the second half and trying to save it in odp format, then if it hangs reduce further the number of slides to be saved or increase it in the other case. Once you have identified the faulty slide, you can review the objects on it and replace them with more standard objects. This will be time consuming (a couple of hours?), but I do not see any other way.

One more thought: Are you using the current version of OOo (2.3.1)? I think there were some bug fixes concerning SWF export lately, so in case you use an older version, you should try to update from the official download-site.
