Saving in Linux for Windows machines

Post by bcdeck »

I'm working with OpenOffice 2.3 in on an xUbuntu Linux machine, and when I save in MS Word 97/2000/XP format the spacing is off when viewed on a Windows machine. If I look at the MS Word 97/2000/XP document within OOo, everything looks fine, but there are odd breaks -- sometimes in the middle of a word -- when a Microsoft user looks at the document.

Is there anything I can do to ensure smooth transition?

I've read through the guides and looked through other threads, and didn't find an answer. My apologies if this has been covered already.

Can you post a screenshot showing the issue?
Have you installed the msttcorefonts package under Ubuntu? Or be sure that the fonts used in the documents are installed on both systems.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 25.2 portable on Windows 11.
