I successfully updated my Vista system from OO 2.3.0 to OO 2.3.1, and it is working beautifully. However I did not use the update feature in the help menu, but simply downloaded the newer version directly from the OO site, and installed over the earlier version.
Somehow, the look for automatic update feature does not recognize that the installed version is 2.3.1, and keeps telling me there is a new version available. I shut it off, and it's no big deal. Still, if there is a simple way to make it work correctly, I'd like to do it.
On the whole my experience of OO for the last seven months has been quite good. It seems to me that 2.3.1 is more responsive than the earlier version, and that's great. I have completely removed the Office Pro suite from my system, and have never looked back. Thanks for a fine product....

Re: Updated system not recognized by updater.
I have no idea how the update system works, or whether it might have a problem on Vista, so I can't suggest any steps to try and debug your problem.
I don't see any update bugs reported for Vista, so you may need to report the problem: Open Office Quality Assurance - Report Bugs
If you do file a report, try to give as much specific information as you can, or they will simply close the report as "works for me" since the basic feature will have been tested successfully at some point.

Re: Updated system not recognized by updater.
There is a thread about that here: keeps prompting "OOo update available". Does it help?
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE Faye) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.

I really appreciate the replies. I did check out that thread. It was reassuring to realize that I was not alone. I had come to the same thoughts as they had, so I did reinstall OO making two important changes. First, I deactivated my virus scanner in advance, rather than waiting for OO to tell me to and used the downloader notice to get a new download, and second, I ran the installer with Administrator privileges. It went smoothly, I still like it, but the problem remains.
As I said, it's not a big deal, but if there was some simple thing I could do to clear it up, I would. Aren't computers fun!
