Calculate sum of table cells

Post by 5haughtons »

For the first time I am trying to us the Calculation function in a table. When I follow the instruction for the last step to "apply" what is inserted in the cell is not the sum but this *expression is faulty*

Please advise and thank you for it.

Can you tell us what's the formula? Or upload a sample file with the table only here?

Using OOo 2.3.1 on W2K, this is how I would do it...

1. Place the cursor in the cell you wish to plug in the formula

2. From the menu choose Table -> Formula (or press F2)

3. Either click the down arrow on formula icon that appears in the line near the top of the screen or type "sum" (without the quotes) on that ("data input") line.

4. Highlight the cells you want to add up.

5. Press Enter.

Hope this helps...

If you can say exactly what you are trying to do, and what you did, you'll get some very specific help. There are several ways to enter formulas. If you know nothing about the spreadsheet, the best advice is for you to get hold of a book on ANY spreadsheet to get a start. They have a lot of similar functions. Some people here will quickly lead you to some sites where you can download files that contain manuals that will help.
