[Solved] Problem exporting to PDF

Post by Jenny Fry »

For the first time a couple of weeks ago I tried, successfully, to export a page of text into PDF format. I also downloaded and successfully used PDF Fill Tools to rearrange pages just as an experiment. I have just tried to do the same thing again and what was a one page document is exporting as a document with over 70 pages. The first page has the following text at the top of a then blank page. All other pages have similar incoherent text on them.

%PDF-1.4
%äüöß
2 0 obj
<</Length 3 0 R/Filter/FlateDecode>>
stream
xœ•ZI‹,7#¾÷¯¨ó@õh_ H¨ê®>ÌÍÐ0#ãÛ؆9

It may be a coincidence but this problem seems to have occurred since downloading the most recent OpenOffice update. I have tried downloading it again but it has not made any difference.

Any ideas please?

How are you viewing the PDF file, to see the characters you gave us?

This look exactly like a valid PDF file opened with a text editor (Notepad).

Open your PDF file with a pdf viewer like Adobe Reader or FoxitReader.

Thanks. I opened the document with Adobe Reader and everything was fine. The only thing I don't understand is that I am sure all I did before was double click the document when I experimented with exporting to PDF.
