I want to believe, I want OOo to work and be just great, but....

One year ago today I got my brand new pc running Vista and installed the then current OOo (so as clean as clean, generic as possible). I have have kept it updated ever since and used Writer and Impress almost every day.

Here is the BUT...

They have always been slow and always go 'not responding' after saves, prints, and pastes!

This can't be normally. You all surely can't keep going on about how great OOo is, if this major bug was normal.
So what is going on? Please help.

I want to believe but this is wearing real thin. I have encouraged my workmates with the OOo dream, but when they use it and find the same problems, they shake their heads at me and give me the 'I'm sorry for you' look and tell me where I can buy a copy of MSOffice.

I have a similar problem on Windows Me, but I can't link it to any specific action such as saving, printing or pasting. Some link it to the Quickstarter, but I don't even use the Quickstarter. This issue hasn't been fixed yet:

You have write rights on Folders, where you try to save your documents?
