Installation issues with Vista
Installation issues with Vista
I have downloaded OOo 3 times today. I have used it in the past, but have recently bought this laptop with Vista. I have tried downloading it with my virus program shut down. I have reinstalled it 6 - 7 times. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled. Every time I open it, it stops responding as soon as I try to do anything, like print setup, etc. Of course, when I reopen it, it tries to recover the document, which, of course, has nothing in it anyway. Please help. I'm about to give up and try another program. I thought this was the answer to Microsoft Office.

Re: Installation issues with Vista
Please read the Survival Guide for the forum. Don't hijack the thread of other users. It was not really the same issue and there was already a discussion in progress. So I've split the thread and moved it in the MS Windows forum.
There are some issues with Vista (browse this section), mainly coming from insufficient permissions for the user. Try to rename your OOo profile, see that thread: On Windows Vista, OOo 2.3.1 is taking forever to save files.

LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE Faye) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.
Re: Installation issues with Vista
I'm sorry. I thought I had covered everything I needed to do and I thought that was the best place to post because I looked all over and searched and found the topic "writer crashs," so I thought that would be where I would look for an answer, because I downloaded OOo and writer crashes every time I open it. Hope I'm not messing things up again - what do I do now since you "split the thread?"

To check if it's a Writer or general OOo issue, try to launch another module.
Have you followed my previous advice???
