Hi,
I want to insert the standard symbols for males (mars -- circle with arrow off to upper right) and females (venus -- circle with cross below) that are used in biology, but I can't seem to find them in any of the likely fonts. Does anyone know which fonts has them?
Thanks.
Mike

All of my fonts have them — they are in the Miscallaneous Symbols character set. I think you will also find them in MS Unicode and Code 2000 fonts. Adobe Minion Pro also has them. That should be in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Resource\Font

Insert > Special Character > Subset = "Miscellaneous Symbols"
Look down toward the lower right: they're there even in the default font ("Thorndale" for me). U+2640 FEMALE SIGN (aka Venus), and U+2642 MALE SIGN (aka Mars).
Click on the one(s) you want, then OK: they will be inserted in your document.
As Bhikku Pesala said, there are many fonts that support these; you can find font lists at http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode ... /index.htm.

Hi Acknak and Bhikkuhu,
Thanks for the replies they were very helpful. It appears that the DejaVu Sans does not have them, but I could find them in the Serif version.

They appear to be in all the DejaVu fonts that come with Fedora: dejavu-lgc-fonts-2.19-1
