i've just created a document and want to check the page formatting but PRINT PREVIEW is the only icon on the Toolbar that is not activated.
How do i activate Print Preview as a function?

ACTIVATE PRINT PREVIEW
Re: ACTIVATE PRINT PREVIEW
That's strange. Is File > Page Preview also gray?
Others will ask for your OOo version and OS so provide that also.

Re: ACTIVATE PRINT PREVIEW
Do you need a working printer configured to be able to do a File > Page Preview? Seems like it should work regardless.
Perhaps a broken installation or configuration?

Do you have a printer selected? This is not normal behaviour.

Re: ACTIVATE PRINT PREVIEW
Please always provide the exact version, because versions numbered x.x.1 are bug-fix releases, so there can be substantial differences in some behaviors. Look in the Help menu and choose About. The first line of the small print contains the exact version number.waynerite wrote:OO version: OpenOffice.org 2.3
When I'm using View> Web Layout, the File> Page Preview button is disabled. The toolbar button, oddly enough, does not appear disabled but it also does nothing when I click it. My guess is that the page preview is unavailable because web pages actually have no pages, so page properties are meaningless. If the file is in HTML format, I'd just open it in the web browser and use the browser's print preview.
Cheers!

Re: ACTIVATE PRINT PREVIEW
There's no such need with OOo. I've never had a printer installed on my PC and print preview works just fine.acknak wrote:Do you need a working printer configured to be able to do a File > Page Preview? Seems like it should work regardless.

Re: ACTIVATE PRINT PREVIEW
thanks for the help folks.
it seems that Foxcole's response was the right one. the Page/Print Preview only works when the document is in "Print Layout" format in the VIEW option.
