file recovery

Post by ken28 »

Virtually every time I open the OpenOffice, I am given the option of "recovering" the file(s) I had open in the previous session(s). There does not seem to be anything wrong with these files as they can be opened in MS Office or OpenOffice without doing a "recovery." that is, I apparently cancel the recovery request. Why is this screen always presented, is it needed, and if not, how do I shut it off?

How are you shutting down OOo? Do you use File > Close or File > Exit to close OOo cleanly, or do you shut down the computer to close everything?

Are you saving your files in MS Office format, or standard OOo format?

When you see the offer to recover the files, what exactly do you do? Do you click "Cancel"? What happens after that?

If I get an offer to recover a file, then answer "Cancel" twice, the recovery files are gone and never re-appear.

Have you read the Forum Survival Guide? What OS and OOo version are you using?
AOO4/LO5 • Linux • Fedora 23
