[OO writer 2.3 on Ubuntu 7.10]

I've been encountering this problem on and off for a while now and have resisted posting it till I could reproduce it reliably. I'm just working on a document now and it seems as if the problem has sprung up and is reproducible so here goes:

The problem is changing the formatting of texts Italics, Bold, superscript and subscript mid word or sentence and having the buttons and keyboard shortcuts not work.

I'll write in Italics like this but need to change midword and pressing ctrl-i or the italics button results in nothing (the button still stays depressed as well). This can also happen when it's just the next work in a sentence not necessarily changing the formatting midword. You are then forced to highlight the characters you want to change the formating for and only then do the keyboard shortcuts or buttons work. What's frustrating about this (besides that it's frustrating in itself) is that it is not consistent, sometimes the button/shortcut will work, other times not.

The document I'm currently working on exhibits this problem. On the left is an Akkadian text in transliteration, which is written in italics, and on the right is the translation in English (no italics). When I tab over from the italicized transliteration and try to unitalize the cursor to write the English it won't do it.

i.e. if you want to see for youself:
load the file, press tab, ctrl-i and then starting typing and it will still be in italics.

Anyway I hope someone can help out with this problem,
Thanks,
-Willis

That sounds like a familiar bug, fixed in the latest version.
