[Solved] Charts in Calc

Having used OpenOffice 2.2 succesfully for some time, I upgraded to version 2.3. However, I now find the menu-item Insert/Chart grayed out (unabled), and the program does not work correctly with existing charts. What can I do? Please help!

Chart is a seperate component. Did you do a custom install and deselect it?

Hmmm... do you have 2.3.0 or 2.3.1? 2.3.1 had a lot of bug fixes.

I installed 2.3.1 using the file OOo_2.3.1_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe, downloaded this morning

I don't know, sorry.

While you wait for someone who does, you could try making a backup of your OpenOffice user profile and then deleting it. I've never done this so I can't tell you what exactly you have to backup and delete, but you should find it from a forum search. This often seems to fix problems for people, and is reversible if it doesn't.

No need to delete anything. You can just rename the folder where it is, so OOo won't recognize it. Then it will generate a new one the next time you start an OOo module (such as Writer or Calc).

Jaap, it's extremely important to include your OS version in questions like this. (Please read the Survival Guide to the forum; there's a link in my sig line below.) Because you downloaded the Win32Intel_ install, should I assume you're running WinXP?

I tried renewing the user profile as suggested, and it seems to have worked. Thanks to huw and fox!
