I am new to Base. I have set up the tables and the relationships but when I go to create the forms, it is greyed out. I click on the forms icon on the left and nothing happens. Has anyone else experienced this/resolved it.

I registered the database.

Did you install all of OpenOffice.org, or just the Base component? If just Base, you need to install the whole thing, as Forms are handled by the Writer component.

When the main database "document" window is open, what does it say at the very bottom of the window (in the status) bar. i.e. something like "HSQL database" or "spreadsheet" or something else?

Thanks for the reply. I installed the entire package. I did put the Base link on my desktop and use that to open the program instead of going into Open Office. It says "HSQL Datbase Engine" in the status bar. I think, however I have found the problem. We are networked so the package was installed by our IT people from HO for my use here in this branch office. I opened the actual Open Office link on my computer and found that four of the icons are greyed out, one of which is the Text Document. I think this may be the solution. My recollection is that they had asked if I only wanted Base and I said yes. I had opened the suite but had not paid attention to the status of the links until today, as my only interest was base, and as I said, I put that on the desktop and have not opened the suite link since. I will ensure the entire suite is installed and see if this resolves the issue.

Thanks again for the great tip. Would not have thought of it.
