[Solved] Refer to numbered equations?

I have numbered my equations as described in the third Math FAQ, "How do I number my equations?".
Now, I want to refer to these equations in the accompanying text. How can I do this, so that when
the equation numbers change (because I inserted/deleted an earlier equation), the matching text numbers change accordingly?

This looks workable, although awkward to use repeatedly. I may make it into a macro.

As Jim wrote, it is kind of awkward. Isn't this more intuitive:
Insert -> Cross-references -> Cross-references tab
then
Select Equation (from Type) and the number (from Selection) and select the type of text you want (Insert Reference to: Numbering) and click "Insert".

Replace the Text field name by Equation and you're done. You can do that in your AutoText so that it default to this customization for your next documents.
