Problem using formatting

Post by bogoos »

Hi
I've switched to Writer from m$ Word and experience trouble using automatic formatting. I'd like to use 2 different styles in one verse /i.e. italic and bold/ and I want Writer to use this configuration automatically in next lines like Word did. Example:

John: Some phrase...
Amy: Other phrase...

Help me please! :?

I have Word 2003 and am unable to make this happen automatically, just running some quick tests and looking at some different settings. How did you get it to work in Word, exactly?
Cheers!

HI,
I'm not an advanced user, I just DID it /wrote with Italic, used tabulation, wrote in Normal font, pressed enter, repeated the whole action/ and Word somehow "learnt" it, I mean remebered settings. A I write long texts this way, It's very tiring to do it manually all the time.
Thanks for help

I don't see such self-learning process with OOo. Except setting shortcuts to a character style (but you'll have to type it each time for the normal part, the paragraph style being in italics), there could be the table solution : 2 columns, first in italics, 2nd in normal font, just hit tab for next cell or row.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 25.2 portable on Windows 11.
