converting MSWorks files

How do I go about transferring data files created over the years in MS Works (v. 7.0) to Open Office? If I click on the .wdb file from the "open existing an existing database" screen in the OpenOffice Base Wizard, the program shuts down. I'd like to convert several listings from Works to OpenOffice.

You will need to export the data files to a format the Base understands - for example dBase or CSV files.
