Getting started

after I download this, where do I look to open it?

If you downloaded OOo through your browser, you should have a "Downloads" window that will help you find the file. The download window should have an option to "Open" the file--use that if you can.

If you don't see that window, you have to find the file yourself. I think the default download location is usually either your desktop (in which case you should find a new icon there), or "My Documents"

If that doesn't do it, I usually fall back to a desktop search for files that are newer than 1 hour (or whatever).

Once you find the downloaded file, you should be able to double-click it to launch the installer.
