[Solved] Language pre-set

Post by EestiKurt »

Hi,

Being a translator I must be able to perform a spell check on my documents. But getting a French document, translation it to German or English, does not mean that I could do it. It will automatically check on French spelling.

Where can I ajust the language?? I need: Dutch, Spanish, German, English, Latvian, Swedisch and Estonian (to switch between).

Who has a solution?

See that thread : [Tutorial] Spell check and Language configuration.

Please also read the Survival Guide for the forum for next threads. Don't forget to search before posting.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' in your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

No, it is NOT fixed.

I cannot in any menu pre-set another language of the document. It is not possible. It will not give the possibility. Having worked 20 years with MS-Word and other text processing programmes, I can normally use such a programme without problem.

So please instead of having me read a whole compendium to switch a document from French to English (NOT the spellcheck!), so that it can be checked later, please denote the steps. Thank you! I will need mor languages, but this would help on the principle.

Spell checking language is controlled by the paragraph style (Fonts tab).

For someone so obviously highly literate, why such aversion to reading? It isn't a "whole compendium." Printed out as just text, it would take three pages, if that. What the tutorial doesn't make clear right out of the box, so to speak, is that language and spell-checking both rely on the same settings. But if you think about it for a second or two... how could a program or a person spell-check without the proper language? Doesn't it make sense that everything you asked about is, by the nature of the problem, already in that link of Hagar's?

If you prefer a different resource than the tutorial thread, try the Writer Guide (online or PDF version) or the Getting Started Guide or Migration Guide, all of which are available through the links in my sig line below. These are excellent resources to have on hand; they've always been my first line of reference.

Please also have a careful look at the Survival Guide containing the forum rules (also available below).
Cheers!
