Hello,

Apple announces that OpenOffice for Mac will no longer run on some upcoming version of their new operating system Tahoe.

Is this the end of OpenOffice for Mac ?

May I suggest that you make some announcement about this topic ?

I understand that there is an ongoing project to update OpenOffice for all platforms; at what speed this progresses, and what the niceties are for the Mac platforms, I cannot say.

If I had an older Mac, I would seriuosly consider installing on it a linux system on which OpenOffice and other applications work.

Can you provide a link to an announcement that MacOS 26 (Tahoe) won't support OpenOffice? Apple says x86-64 applications will run on MacOS 26, either natively on Intel hardware or using Rosetta 2 on Silicon hardware, and OpenOffice is available as an x86-64 download. I do see that support for x86-64 (Intel) applications will be removed in MacOS 27 (Golden Gate).

Supported platforms for MacOS Tahoe
• ARM64 (Silicon-based Mac hardware)
• x86-64 (Intel-based Mac hardware)

Thank you MrProgrammer for the clarification. I have no specific information about what future version of Tahoe will no longer include Rosetta. I am currently using 26.5.1 and OpenOffice runs all right. But each time I launch the application a notification pops-up warning me that OpenOffice will not run on a future release of the OS. Probably 27.

Addition : if I read correctly the information in the link you provided to the Golden Gate version of macOS (27), it looks like Rosetta 2 will still be supported in Golden Gate : "... it will be released in late 2026. It will be the first version of macOS to run exclusively on Macs with Apple silicon and the last version with full Rosetta 2 functionality".
