[Solved] Images Don't Paste In Writer

Using Writer on my laptop running windows 10, when I try to copy and paste from a website, the text pastes fine, but the images often don't show up; instead, all I see is a red outline of a box with some wording, but no image. I went to Tools > Options > Open Office Writer > View and made sure that the box labeled "Graphics and Objects" was checked (It was), but don't know what else to do. Any ideas?

Any help would really be appreciated.

For fault-finding, try a roundabout way: click on the website image, select Save image; then use /Insert /Picture: from file to place it in your document.

I should note that there are some image formats used on web sites which OpenOffice does not like; these formats need to be opened in an image editor (I use GIMP) and converted to jpg, png or other format that OO can handle, and then inserted by /Insert /Picture : from file.

Hi Rory. Thanks for your reply.

No, I tried just copying the image and then inserting it as a picture, but got the same result. Any other ideas?

What is the picture type - the extension after the .? How did it come by that extension - was it offered automatically when you Saved it?
