Strange printer problem - Writer 4.1.16

When I tried to print a two page document created with OpenOffice Writer it wouldn't print. Really odd because I could print documents created in Microsoft Wordpad both before and after trying to print the Writer document. I reset the printer and recycled it off and on, but the Writer document still won't print. Any ideas???

You could try Resetting your OpenOffice User Profile. To do that follow the instructions here: Handling the Apache OpenOffice User profile

If that doesn't help try installing LibreOffice and see if you have better luck with that. There are several good reasons for making the switch anyway, some of which are mentioned here: [Tutorial] Considering a Switch from OpenOffice to LibreOffice? Some Useful Information

Your forum signature says you are using Windows 7. If this is so and you wish to try LibreOffice then you should know that the highest version of LibreOffice you can use that is guaranteed to have support for running on Windows 7 is LibreOffice 25.2.7 — this is mentioned in the tutorial I point to above.

If you aren't using Windows 7 please log into you forum account and update/edit your forum signature: Edit Signature

As far as I am aware, OpenOffice only detects a printer if it is powered on at the time when OpenOffice starts up.

It has also been the case that when OpenOffice refuses to print on Windows that reinstalling a printer driver can solve the problem: with older versions of OpenOffice and Windows this seemed a common problem.

If you are really using OO 4.1.2, you possibly should update to a later version.

I'm using Windows 10 and OO verison 4.1.16. I've tried all the tips but it still won't print. I'm going to try LibreOffice instead.
Thanks!
